Privacy Policy
Last updated September 30, 2026
Your privacy and trust matter to us, especially when it comes to your family. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
01Who we are
Jo Tam (“Jo Tam”, “we”, “us”) builds and sells digital products, including the StoryMe app, and provides app development services. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers the website at jotamlb.com and the StoryMe mobile app. Where a section applies to only one of them, we say so.
02Information we collect on this website
We keep website data collection to a minimum.
- Contact form. When you write to us, we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. We use this only to reply and to keep a record of our conversation.
- StoryMe waitlist. If you ask to be notified when StoryMe launches, we keep your email address only to send you that news, and delete it on request.
- AI tools. When you use a tool such as the Bedtime Story Generator, the details you enter are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, only to create your result. We do not store them or use them for anything else.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider automatically processes basic request data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse, for example to limit repeated form submissions.
- Cookies. Public pages do not set tracking or advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
03Information we collect in StoryMe
StoryMe creates personalized bedtime stories. To do that, a parent or guardian may provide the following:
- Account information: name, email address and password.
- Child profile: the child's first name or nickname, age and preferred characters, such as a favorite animal or hero. This is used only to generate personalized stories.
- Preferences: the language chosen for stories and notification settings.
- Purchases: subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple, Google or our payment provider. We receive confirmation of the purchase and its status, never your full card details.
- Usage and diagnostics: basic, aggregated information about how the app is used and crash reports, to fix problems and improve story quality.
We ask parents to use a first name or nickname for their child and not to enter other identifying details such as a full name, address, school or photos.
04How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create personalized stories and deliver weekly new episodes;
- process subscriptions and purchases, and manage accounts;
- reply to messages and provide customer support;
- send optional notifications and updates you have agreed to receive;
- keep our services secure, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations;
- understand, in aggregate, how our products are used so we can improve them.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use children's information for advertising or to build marketing profiles.
05Legal bases for processing
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: to provide StoryMe and the services you request.
- Consent: for a parent or guardian to provide a child's details, and for optional notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to answer enquiries, secure our services and improve our products, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation: to keep records required by law, such as billing records.
06Children's privacy
StoryMe is made for families, but only parents or guardians may create an account or enter information. The app is not designed for children to sign up on their own, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
A child's details are used only to generate that family's stories. Parents can review, change or delete their child's profile at any time from the app or by contacting us. If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent's involvement, please contact us and we will delete it.
08How we protect information
We use industry standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls limited to authorized people, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires it.
09How long we keep information
- StoryMe account and child profile data: while the account is active, then deleted.
- Contact form messages: up to 24 months after our last exchange.
- Billing and transaction records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Server logs: for a short period, typically no more than 30 days.
10International transfers
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. When we transfer personal information internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, as required by applicable data protection laws.
11Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your information and account (see Account Deletion);
- object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent;
- receive a copy of your information in a portable format;
- opt out of promotional notifications at any time.
To use any of these rights, email contact@jotamlb.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our products evolve. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will let you know by email, in the app or on this website before it takes effect.
